The Gateway
HGLV has been retained by The Gateway to design a new Main Entrance and Lobby addition that also defines a reworked outdoor patio area. This addition endeavors to improve the public interface, acting as a way finder for patrons to easily identify the main entrance, potentially by incorporating a new marquee or comparable signage that is synonymous with theaters of the performing arts. The visual experience upon approaching the building from South Country Road is especially important, and will begin with a new, relocated two-way monument sign to improve visibility from both directions. Once on site, safe flow of both vehicular and pedestrian foot traffic is a paramount design consideration. A drop-off area may be incorporated at the new building entrance for convenience. The exterior will complement the existing original barn building, honoring the roots of where this theatre began, while updating the overall image to one that reaches out with “open arms” and welcomes its patrons. The interior will enhance user experience, create more usable floor space with taller ceilings, improve the primary gathering space and the movement of people within that space, and strike a balance where modern upgrades pay homage to the barn aesthetic.
Mixed Use at Former Elks Lodge
A mix of one and two bedroom apartments over first-floor commercial space, to replace the former Elks Lodge in Huntington NY. The building conforms to the town’s regulations for mixed-use.
New Office Building
Traditional Style Huntington Village Mixed Use
Sited just outside of the village commercial corridor, this new mixed-use building was designed to fit within the existing character of the surrounding neighborhood buildings.
The Waterfront Center
In the very early stage of schematic design, this new facility in Bayville will provide The Waterfront Center with a new home for community gathering space, classrooms, close proximity to a convenient boat launch and dock area, administrative offices and storage areas — all of which will support and extend their vision of encouraging environmentally sound recreation that is safe, fun and accessible by people of all ages.
